From many years the Pakistani students are raising the flag of Pakistan at world level; even Nobel Prize has been reached by a swat girl. Malala yousaf zai, Ali moeen nawazish, Arfa kareem all these students make us proud from their efforts from the record in A Level worldwide to the youngest software programmer. Recently a Pakistani child had participated in high performance gaming competition where some selected candidate from different countries represented their countries.
Pakistani students regularly participate in world forum of youth and education affairs, including model united nation etc. Many times UN has recognized the effort of Pakistani students for the contribution in education world. Recently news has lightened the name of Pakistan again. Two Female students, Darakhshan Jokhio and Sana Arain, hail from district Thatta of Sindh has been selected to participate in UN General Assembly session. At least 24 schools of the district were enlisted in the UN programme; of them two students of the Government Girls High Secondary School Thatta were short-listed to represent Pakistan in the UN General Assembly. After following a process for selection, these two girls are selected. This is truly tremendous.
The duo will fly to New York on September 23 from Karachi. The girls will speak on issues of child rights and literacy rate during their address in the UNGA as student representatives of Pakistan. Their documentation has been completed by the Sindh Education Department and submitted to the relevant authorities for further formalities. The region which is often quoted for low literacy and for old customs, from there the selection and participation of these girls of poor families is really a trend setting ritual. This will not only break the stereotypes but also encourage the students of the under privileged areas to do more apart from regular studies. The education is the only tool which can change the fate of the people especially of the people of areas where still illiteracy is prevailing. From many years the literacy goals still have not been achieved in Pakistan and the condition in rural Sindh and Baluchistan is still alarming where the trend is still has not been set for sending female children to school. So this selection should be advertised on every forum specially to motivate the parents who are still reluctant to send children to school.
According to reports the two girls belong to very poor families. This selection also shows that if you have a passion and spirit to do something for the country that nothing can stop you even a backward city or a government school. Many times people blame the criteria and education standards of the government schools and mock them. But it’s a fact that many senior officials in all fields and education professional have been studied from the government schools and this selection shows that these schools are still not been out of talent. Even a backward area school has the privilege of such female students. Apart from media, the government should acknowledge these kinds of students.
