Board of intermediate and secondary education, Rawalpindi (BISE Rawalpindi) started its working as an independent educational bod earlier in 1977. The major goal behind the establishment of this educational body was to hold matric as well as intermediate level exams in the fair environment. Along with conducting these exams the board was also given the authority to hold other certification exams.

In the first phase the exams are organized for the students of 12th class while in the second phase the exams for the students of inter part 1 are organized.
Just before one month of the commencement of these exams, the board authorities issue the datesheet for these levels. Usually in February, the board authorities announces the datesheet for the students of 9th class and 10th class while in April the board announces the datesheet for the students of 11th class and 12th class.
After three months of conducting exams the board officials announces the results of these levels. The result of 10th class usually announces in July, the result of SSC Part 1 normally announces in August while the annual exams result of HSSC part 2 and HSSC part 1 are usually announces in September and October respectively.
